Welcome to Carroll County Altrusa

Service Projects and Activities
In the year 2010 our local projects and activities included:
  • providing lunches for local Habitat for Humanity events
  • cosponsor of a DCYF Foster Family Christmas party providing books for all the foster children
  • supporting a nurse practitioner's trip to Haiti
  • providing book bags to new parents in Tamworth
  • participating in fund raising cancer walks
  • continuing our "Backpack Project" which provides backpacks and school supplies to newly placed foster children
  • providing pajamas and other personal items to Starting Point (program for battered women and children)
  • continuing our "Helping Hands Program" offering services to county residents in need.
And we can't forget to mention our national service project supporting Camp Safe Haven.  Camp Safe Haven is a summer camp where children with HIV/AIDS can go to camp free of charge with a volunteer medical staff and just be kids for their time there during the summer.

If you too are interested in helping with these service projects as well as enjoying the friendship of a wonderful group of women, please email us at carrollcountyaltrusa@yahoo.com.

About Carroll County Altrusa
We are a non profit community service organization which was chartered in May of 2006.  Our 27 members come from the towns of Conway, Tamworth, Freedom, Madison, Sandwich, Moultonboro and Ossipee.  We meet the 2nd Monday of each month at Runnells Hall in Chocorua Village beginning at 6 pm and enjoy a light supper prepared by our members.  Each meeting usually features a program or speaker and a business meeting during which we plan and prepare for our service projects.

Carroll County Altrusa is part of Altrusa International, which was founded in 1917 to provide service groups to families and communities when record numbers of women went to work during World War I.  Check out the Altrusa website to learn more about the national service projects we support, such as Camp Safe Haven summer camp for children who live with HIV.
