February - 2012

Carroll County Altrusa held it's regular monthly meeting on Monday the 13th at Runnells Hall.  The Hospitality Committee provided a delicious soup, salad and bread supper.  The warm soups hit the spot on a cold February night.  Thanks to the committee for a great supper. Shelly played a little get acquainted game called "Mystery Guest".  The question was,"if you could do anything in the world with no regard to expense for one month, what would you do?" The answer was work in a zoo.  Do you know who this member is?

Pam started the meeting with the introduction of three guests. The club always enjoys seeing new faces and hopes that members will continue to invite friends to share the Altrusa experience.  Business discussed were plans for the spaghetti dinner on March 31st, the new Literacy Project called Mail for Me, District Awards submissions and also attendance at District One Spring Conference.

At the conclusion of the meeting, members stayed to create happy valentines pens for the staff at the Mountain View Nursing Home and valentines for the 103 residence.  There were lots of giggles as we learned the very technical skills required to make the play clay pens.  Shelly instructed us of course encouraging us with the fact that her 4 year old, Beckett could do several pens in less than 10 minutes.

Plans are underway for members to attend the Altrusa District One Conference which will be held on April 27th to 29th in Montpelier, Vt.  Our resident Artist Estelle has again blessed us with her talents as she decorated out "Sap Bucket" for the Auction fund raiser that will be held on Saturday night at the Conference.  Here's a sneak peak of part of the bucket.  Wait till you see the rest!
